On Thursday, October 3, 2024, the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department accepted the nondisciplinary resignation of attorney Paul Lawrence Alpern from the practice of law in the state.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Paul Lawrence Alpern,” with case no. PM-194-24.

Alpern had submitted his affidavit on September 3, 2024, seeking resignation due to nondisciplinary reasons which the Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department did not oppose. The New York Court reviewed Alpern’s application and associated documentation and determined he was eligible to resign for nondisciplinary causes.

Alpern’s name will be stricken from the roll of attorneys authorized to practice law in New York and he is commanded to refrain from representing himself as an attorney in the state. Furthermore, Alpern must surrender any Attorney Secure Pass issued to him within 30 days. With this order, Paul Lawrence Alpern’s ability to practice law in New York was officially terminated.

According to avvo.com, Mr. Alpern attended the Harvard University Law School. He acquired his law license in New York in 1991.
