On Thursday, September 11, 2025, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department granted Attorney Cecile Owens Pace’s request to resign from the New York Bar for nondisciplinary reasons. The Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department (AGC) did not oppose Pace’s application.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Cecile Owens Pace,” with case no. PM-206-25.

The decision was made after reviewing Pace’s affidavit, sworn to on July 24, 2025, and filed on July 28, 2025, as well as correspondence from the Deputy Chief Attorney for the AGC dated August 27, 2025. The court determined Pace was eligible for nondisciplinary resignation.

As a result of the court’s order, Cecile Owens Pace’s name will be removed from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law in the State of New York, effective immediately.

The court has further ordered that Pace must cease practicing law in any form within New York State, whether as a principal, agent, clerk, or employee. She is prohibited from appearing as an attorney or counselor-at-law before any court, judge, justice, board, commission, or other public authority.

Pace is also forbidden from providing legal opinions or advice and from presenting herself as an attorney and counselor-at-law in New York. Cecile Owens Pace is required to surrender any Attorney Secure Pass issued to her to the Office of Court Administration within 30 days of the court’s decision.
