On Thursday, October 10, 2024, the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department, approved attorney Janet Hyonson Roh’s motion for reinstatement to the practice of law and accepted her resignation.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Janet Hyonson Roh,” with case no. PM-203-24.

Roh had been suspended from practicing law in May 2019 due to failure to comply with attorney registration requirements. To be reinstated, she had to show compliance with the terms of her suspension and the court rules, that she possessed good character and fitness to practice, and that reinstatement would be in the public interest.

In considering her applications, the court reviewed Roh’s affidavit and supporting documents sworn in June and August 2024, as well as a response from the Attorney Grievance Committee, dated August 1, 2024. It determined Roh met the criteria for reinstatement. Her motion was thus granted, and her license to practice law was reinstated immediately.

Simultaneously, the court accepted Roh’s nondisciplinary resignation from the bar. As such, her name will be removed from the roll of registered attorneys in New York until further court order. She is also commanded to refrain from practicing law or holding herself out as an attorney in New York. Within 30 days, Roh must surrender any Attorney Secure Pass issued by the Office of Court Administration.

The Disposition states:

“ORDERED that respondent’s motion for reinstatement is granted, and it is further ORDERED that the respondent is reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law, effective immediately; and it is further ORDERED that the respondent’s application for leave to resign is simultaneously granted and her nondisciplinary resignation is accepted.”

According to avvo.com, Ms. Roh is an attorney in Los Angeles, California. She attended the Mcgeorge School of Law. She acquired her law license in New York in 2005.
