On Thursday, September 4, 2025, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Judicial Department granted the reinstatement of Attorney Matthew P. Fisher. Fisher had previously faced suspension due to noncompliance with Judiciary Law §468-a.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Matthew P. Fisher,” with case no. 2025-04700.

The suspension order was issued on January 30, 2017, which prohibited Fisher from practicing as an attorney and counselor-at-law in the state until further notice. The court found that he had failed to meet the compliance requirements set forth under the Judiciary Law, prompting disciplinary action.

In a recent motion, Fisher sought to be reinstated as a practicing attorney. After reviewing the motion and the associated documentation, the court determined that Fisher had complied with the necessary legal requirements on or about January 9, 2025, effectively addressing the issues that led to his suspension.

The court’s decision to grant Fisher’s motion allows him to resume his legal practice in New York effective immediately.

According to the filing, Mr. Fisher acquired his law license in New York in 1990.
