On Thursday, July 31, 2025, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Judicial Department reinstated Richard John Wright as an attorney and counselor-at-law in the State of New York. This decision followed a motion filed by Wright, who had been suspended from practicing law on an interim basis since February 4, 2025.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Richard John Wright,” with case number 2024-04216.

Wright sought reinstatement under 22 NYCRR 1240.16. The Attorney Grievance Committee submitted a statement on July 11, 2025, indicating that the committee did not oppose Wright’s motion for reinstatement.

After reviewing the motion and the accompanying documentation, the court decided unanimously to grant Wright’s request. The reinstatement is effective immediately, although it remains without prejudice to any future proceedings under 22 NYCRR 1240.8.

As part of the reinstatement process, Wright is required to register promptly with the Office of Court Administration and pay any applicable registration fees in accordance with Judiciary Law § 468-a.

According to Avvo, Mr. Wright is a family lawyer in New York, NY. He acquired his law license in New York in 2002.
