On Thursday, February 9, 2023, the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division Third Judicial Department entered an Order striking District of Columbia Attorney Hong Suk Chong’s name from the roll of attorneys of the State of New York pursuant to the latter’s application for resignation from the state bar for non-disciplinary reasons.
The case is styled ‘In the Matter of Hong Suk Chong’’ with case no. PM-23-23.
According to the Memorandum and Order on Motion, Chung has been admitted to practice in New York in 1997. Ledwell sought resignation and filed his affidavit on January 9, 2023, to which the Chief Attorney of the Attorney Grievance Committee accepted.
Accordingly, the Court, upon determination of Chung’s eligibility to resign for nondisciplinary reasons, ruled in favor of Chung.
The filing states:
“ORDERED that Hong Suk Chong’s application for permission to resign is granted and his nondisciplinary resignation is accepted; and it is further
ORDERED that Hong Suk Chong’’s name is hereby stricken from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law of the State of New York, effective immediately, and until further order of this Court.”
Mr. Chung practices in Potomac, Maryland. He had been licensed in New York, license no. 2849008, as well as in Maryland.
