On Thursday, August 24, 2023, the State of New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department granted the application and accepted the resignation of Attorney John Paul Callan for non-disciplinary reasons.

The case is titled ‘In the Matter of John Paul Callan’ with case no.PM-180-23.

Attorney Callan who listed a business address in Sterling, Virginia,  filed his application for resignation on June 26, 2023.  After thorough consideration, Attorney Callan was determined by the Attorney Grievance Committee to be eligible to resign for non-disciplinary reasons. The committee therefore did not oppose the application which caused the State of New York Supreme Court to grant and accept the non-disciplinary resignation.

The resignation having been accepted, the Court further ordered that the name of Attorney John Pau M. Callan be stricken from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law in the state and barred him from practicing law in any capacity.

The order states:

“ORDERED that John-Paul M. Callan’s application for permission to resign is granted and his nondisciplinary resignation is accepted, and it is further

ORDERED that John-Paul M. Callan’s name is hereby stricken from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law of the State of New York, effective immediately, and until further order of this Court (see general rules for Atty Disciplinary Matters [22NYCRR] § 1240.22 [b])”
