On Thursday, March 30, 2023, the State of New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department, through a decision and order on motion reinstated attorney Susanne Wanjiru Kihumba-Watts from the practice of law.  The case is entitled “In the Matter of Susanne Wanjiru Kihumba-Watts,” with case no. PM-78-23.

The respondent was suspended on September 2022, through an order of the court, in the Matter of Attorneys in Violation of Judiciary Law § 468-a,208 AD3d 1421, 1433(3d Dept 2022). Following this suspension, a motion for reinstatement was filed by attorney Kihumba-Watts.

In consideration of the respondent’s notice of motion and affidavit with exhibits sworn on December 9, 2022, along with the responsive correspondence from the Attorney Grievance Committee filed on January 5, 2023, that determines by clear and convincing evidence that the respondent has already complied with the order of suspension and the rules of the court, that respondent has the requisite character and fitness to practice law, and it would be in the public interest to reinstate respondent to the practice of law, the court decided to grant the reinstatement of the respondent.

The order states:

“ORDERED that respondent’s motion for reinstatement is granted; and it is further ORDERED that respondent is reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law, effective immediately.”

Attorney Kihumba-Watts practices in Atlanta, Georgia. She is licensed in Georgia and New York with license no. 5377080. Her info can be found on avvo.com.
