On Thursday, December 15, 2022, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division ruled on the motion for reinstatement filed by attorney Elizabeth B. Donkervoort, also known as Elizabeth Baldrey Tasick. The filing is entitled Decision and Order on Motion.

The original case, titled In the Matter of Attorneys in Violation of Judiciary Law & sect; 468-a., was brought by Monica A. Duffy, Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department, Albany, Opinion No. PM-150-22.

In the case decided on September 1, 2022, a group of respondents, including Ms. Donkervoort, were suspended to practice law after findings of uncontroverted evidence of misconduct in the form of documentary proof that each respondent failed to fulfill his or her attorney registration obligations and their delinquency in fulfilling said obligation. By virtue of the September 2022 ruling, Attorney Donkervoort was suspended from the practice of law.

Ms. Donkervoort filed a motion praying that she be reinstated to the practice of law following her suspension in the September 2022 order of this Court.

The herein Order granted Ms. Donkervoort’s motion and was reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law.

The Order states:

‘Upon reading respondent’s notice of motion and affidavit with exhibits sworn to September 13, 2022, and the October 13,2022 responsive correspondence from the Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department, and having determined, by clear and convincing evidence, that (1) respondent has complied with the order of suspension and the Rules of this Court, (2) respondent has the requisite character and fitness to practice law, and (3) it would be in the public interest to reinstate respondent to the practice of law’

The Disposition states:

‘It is ORDERED that respondent’s motion for reinstatement is granted; and it is further ORDERED that respondent is reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law, effective immediately.’
