On Thursday, March 23, 2023, the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division Third Judicial Department ruled on the petition for reinstatement filed by Virginia attorney Raj Srivatsan.
According to the Decision and Order on Motion, Srivatsan was suspended from practice by a September 2022 order of the Court for violation of the Judiciary Law §468-a, which requires every attorney admitted to practice in the State of New York to register every two years with the Chief Administrator of the Courts.
Srivatsan sought reinstatement by filing a notice of motion and affidavit with exhibits sworn on November 21, 2022, and his supplemental correspondence which was approved by the Attorney Grievance Committee.
The court, on the other hand, stated that Srivatsan has provided clear and convincing evidence that he has complied with the order of suspension and the court rules, is fit to practice law, and that his reinstatement would be in the public interest, and thereby ruled in favor of Srivatsan.
The order reads:
“ORDERED that respondent’s motion for reinstatement is granted; and it is further
ORDERED that respondent is reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law in the State of New York. effective immediately.”
Mr. Raj Srivatsan has been admitted to the New York Bar, license no. 4106225.
