Attorney Don Hart Bennett has been reinstated by the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division Third Judicial Department. The court issued an order on July 27, 2023, granting Bennett’s motion for reinstatement
The case is styled ‘In the Matter of Attorneys in Violation of Judiciary Law § 468-a,’ case #PM-158-23.
According to the Decision and Order on Motion, Bennett was suspended from practice by a September 2022 order of the Court for violation of the Judiciary Law §468-a, arising from his failure to comply with attorney registration.
Bennett filed a notice of motion and affirmation with exhibits in support of his application for reinstatement, which was not opposed by the Attorney Grievance Committee.
The court decided in favor of Bennett’s reinstatement, after finding that he complied with the order of suspension and the court rules; that he had the character and fitness required to be a lawyer, and that reinstating him would be in the public interest.
The order reads:
“ORDERED that respondent’s motion for reinstatement is granted; and it is further
ORDERED that respondent is reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law in the State of New York. effective immediately.”
Mr. Bennett attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa William S. Richardson School of Law. He has been licensed to practice in New York since 2002, license no. 4024568. His info can be found on Justia.
