On Thursday, June 8, 2023, the State of New York Supreme Court, Appellate DivisionThird Judicial Department reinstated attorney Laureen Ella Galeoto, also known as Laureen Ella Jaffe from the practice of law.
The case is entitled “Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department v. Laureen Ella Galeoto” with case no. PM-120-23.
The respondent has filed a motion requesting to be reinstated to the practice of law after being suspended by a court order in September 2022. The court has carefully reviewed the respondent’s motion, including the accompanying affidavit and exhibits sworn to on February 14, 2023, as well as the responsive correspondence from the Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department dated March 16, 2023. After a thorough examination of the evidence presented, the court has determined, with clear and convincing evidence, that the respondent has fully complied with the court’s suspension order and the applicable rules.
Furthermore, the court has found that the respondent possesses the necessary character and fitness to practice law and that reinstating the respondent would be in the public interest, as outlined in the Rules for Attorney Disciplinary Matters [22 NYCRRR] § 1240.16 [a]. Therefore, the court granted the respondent’s motion for reinstatement, and she was officially reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law, effective immediately.
The order states:
“ORDERED that respondent’s motion for reinstatement is granted; and it is further ORDERED that respondent is reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law, effective immediately.”
