Fausto J. Simoes, a former attorney from Newark, New Jersey, has been disbarred by consent effective immediately, according to an order issued by the Supreme Court of New Jersey on September 15, 2023. Simoes was suspended from practicing law on June 21, 2023.

According to the order, Simoes tendered his consent to disbarment, and the court ordered his name to be stricken from the roll of attorneys and permanently restrained and enjoined from practicing law. The court also ordered that any funds currently existing or hereinafter deposited in any New Jersey financial institution maintained by Simoes pursuant to Rule 1:21-6, shall be transferred by the financial institution to the Clerk of the Superior Court, who is directed to deposit the funds in the Superior Court Trust Fund pending further Order of the Court.
Simoes has also been directed to comply with Rule 1:20-20 dealing with disbarred attorneys and to reimburse the Disciplinary Oversight Committee for appropriate administrative costs and actual expenses incurred in the prosecution of this matter, as provided in Rule 1:20-17. The entire record of this matter has been made a permanent part of Simoes’ file as an attorney at law of this State.
