On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the Supreme Court of New Jersey censured attorney Jacqueline Arnett for multiple instances of professional misconduct. This censure followed a decision by the Disciplinary Review Board, which involved a motion for discipline by consent submitted by the District XIII Ethics Committee.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Jacqueline Arnett,” with case no. 090735.

The censure stemmed from Arnett’s behavior during a real estate transaction in 2023, which involved her and her spouse purchasing a residential property. Following a home inspection, Arnett became involved in a dispute with the seller and the real estate agents regarding undisclosed issues with the property. The DRB’s letter outlined a pattern of aggressive and disrespectful communication from Arnett, where she made persistent allegations against the seller and the agents, claiming they had misrepresented the condition of the home.

Arnett’s actions escalated to the point where she threatened legal action against the seller and their counsel, making claims that included allegations of discrimination based on religion. Despite entering a Settlement Agreement with Redfin, the real estate company involved in the transaction, she continued to pursue her complaints and demands for compensation, which varied widely over time.

The investigation revealed that Arnett also made false statements during the disciplinary proceedings. She misrepresented her communications and the status of her legal actions, including the nature of a lawsuit she had filed against the seller. These misrepresentations were highlighted in the DRB’s findings, which concluded that her conduct was not only unethical but also damaging to the integrity of the legal profession.

As a result of her actions, the court imposed a censure and required Arnett to complete a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) course focused on legal ethics and professionalism within sixty days.

According to Avvo.com, Ms. Arnett is an attorney in New York, New York. She attended the St. John’s University School of Law. She acquired her law license in New Jersey in 2013.
