On Friday, October 28, 2022, the Supreme Court of Ohio ruled on the interim default suspension concerning Lorain attorney Michael James Duff.
The case, titled Disciplinary Counsel v. Duff, was brought by the Disciplinary Counsel. Case #2022-0563.
According to the filing:
“The Board of Professional Conduct filed a certification of default in the office of the clerk of this court on May 11, 2022. On June 6, 2022, this court imposed an interim default suspension upon respondent, Michael James Duff, pursuant to Gov. Bar R. VI(14)(B)(1). The parties were ordered to show cause why the interim default suspension should not be converted into an indefinite suspension.”
Neither party filed their objection, and this matter was considered by the Court.
Upon consideration thereof and pursuant to Gov. Bar R. V(14)(E)(1), the Court ordered the indefinite suspension of Michael James Duff from the practice of law.
The dispositive portion of the Order reads in material parts:
“. .. it is ordered and adjudged by this Court that. . . respondent, Michael James Duff, Attorney Registration No. 0015329, last known address in Lorain, Ohio, is indefinitely suspended from the practice of law.”
It is further ordered that respondent immediately cease and desist from the practice of law in any form and that respondent is hereby forbidden to appear on behalf of another before any court, judge, commission, board, administrative agency, or other public authority.”
