On Friday, February 17, 2023, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania ordered the suspension of District of Columbia Attorney Bryan A. Chapman.

The case is styled In the Matter of Bryan A. Chapman and was brought by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel under case no. 175 DB 2022.

On October 27, 2022, Mr. Chapman was suspended from the practice of law for 90 days in the District of Columbia by an Order of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals for misconduct arising from his representation of Myrna Roberts, a Crossland High School mathematics teachers in a discrimination claim against the Prince George’s County  Public School. The suspension was pursuant to the Report and Recommendation of the Hearing Committee concluding that Chapman violated numerous Maryland Rules of Professional Conduct for filing a baseless lawsuit.

With the foregoing facts, and Mr. Chapman’s failure to respond to a Notice and Order directing him to provide reasons against the imposition of reciprocal discipline, the Court imposed the same sanction as that imposed in the District of Columbia.

The Order reads:

“. . . Bryan A. Chapman is suspended from the practice of law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for a period of 90 days. He shall comply with all provisions of Pa. R.D.E. 217.”

Prior to being suspended, Mr. Bryan A. Chapman practiced in Washington, D.C. He attended the University of Wisconsion-Madison Law School.
