On Thursday, October 13, 2022, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania ordered the disbarment of New Jersey Attorney Joseph Cicala. The case is styled ‘In the Matter of Joseph Cicala’ with case no. 151 DB 2022.

Mr. Cicala was disbarred by the Supreme Court of New Jersey in an order dated June 27, 2022The disbarment was the Court’s response to the Disciplinary Review Board’s recommendation that Cicala be disbarred for misappropriating client funds in six different client matters where he paid his own legal fees before depositing settlement checks.

In light of the aforementioned facts, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania ruled for the imposition of reciprocal discipline against Mr. Cicala.

The order reads:

“AND NOW, this 8th day of March 2023, upon consideration of the responses to a Notice and Order directing Respondent to provide reasons against the imposition of reciprocal discipline, Joseph Cicalais disbarred from the practice of law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Respondent shall comply with the provisions of Pa.R.D.E. 217”

Mr. Cicala practices in Nutley, New Jersey. He attended Quinnipiac University School of Law. Cicala had been licensed in Pennsylvania, license no. 73299, as well as in New Jersey.
