On Thursday, March 16, 2023, the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division Third Judicial Department entered an order removing South Korea attorney Soonwon Jang’s name from the roll of attorneys of the State of New York pursuant to the latter’s application for resignation from the state bar for non-disciplinary reasons.
The case is styled ‘In the Matter of Soonwon Jang,’ with case no. PM-50-23.
According to the Memorandum and Order on Motion, Jang has been admitted to practice in New York in 2014. Jang sought resignation and filed his affidavit on February 24, 2023, to which the Attorney Grievance Committee made no objections.
Accordingly, the Court, upon determination of Jang’s eligibility to resign for non-disciplinary reasons, ruled in favor of Jang.
The disposition reads in part:
“ORDERED that Soonwon Jang’s application for permission to resign is granted and his nondisciplinary resignation is accepted; and it is further
ORDERED that Soonwon Jang’s name is hereby stricken from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law of the State of New York, effective immediately, and until further order of this Court.”
As of today, Mr. Jang practices in Changwon, South Korea. Jang has been licensed in New York, license no. 5272943.
