On Thursday, August 24, 2023, The Appellate Division of the State of New York Supreme Court, Third Judicial Department granted the motion for reinstatement filed by Attorney Son-U Paik, also known as Michael Paik.

The case is titled ‘In the Matter of Soon-U Paik’ with case no. PM-191-23.

Attorney Son-U Paik was suspended in January 2014 for failure to file a registration statement and pay the required attorney registration fee in accordance with the Judiciary Law § 468-a and Rules of the Chief Administrator of the Courts.

Acting on Attorney Paik’s notice of motion,  the attached affidavit and exhibits, and the positive correspondence from the Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department, the Court determined Attorney Paik’s satisfactory compliance with the suspension order and the rules of the Court. Additionally, Attorney Paik was found to have possessed the requisite character and fitness to practice law again. Based on these considerations, the Court granted the motion for reinstatement.

The order reads:

“ORDERED that respondent’s motion for reinstatement is granted, and it is further

 ORDERED that respondent is reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law, effective immediately.”
