On Thursday, September 21, 2023, the Supreme Court of Illinois disbarred attorney Brittany Anne Roebke after she filed a motion to strike her name from the roll of attorneys. Roebke had been accused of misappropriating client funds and engaging in fraudulent conduct.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Brittany Anne Roebke,” with case no. 031809.

Roebke submitted a motion to strike her name from the Roll of Attorneys in the Supreme Court of Illinois on May 23, 2023. In relation to this, the Administrator of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission, Jerome Larkin, filed a statement of charges detailing the allegations against Roebke. The statement of charges alleged that Roebke converted $34,702 in funds belonging to 12 clients for her own personal or business purposes and made false statements to her supervising attorney.

The statement of charges also alleged that Roebke engaged in fraudulent conduct, including creating false documents and forging an attorney’s signature on a reimbursement check.

Roebke filed an affidavit in response to the statement of charges, acknowledging that she had received a copy of the Administrator’s statement and that she had reviewed it. She also stated that she had filed the motion to strike her name from the Roll of Attorneys freely and voluntarily and that she understood the nature and consequences of the motion.

The Affidavit states:

“Affiant has received and reviewed a copy of the Administrator’s statement of the charges that were pending against Affiant as of the filing of the instant motion. If the case proceeded to a hearing, the Administrator would present the evidence described in the statement of charges, and that evidence would clearly and convincingly establish the facts and conclusions of misconduct set forth in the statement of charges.”

The Supreme Court of Illinois approved Roebke’s motion to strike her name from the Roll of Attorneys on September 21, 2023. This decision was made after a thorough review of the allegations and evidence presented by the Administrator of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission.

Ms. Roebke acquired her law license in Illinois in 2011.
