Supreme Court of Missouri terminates probation of Attorney Valencia Broadus

On February 26, 2010, the Supreme Court of Missouri issued a decision in the case of Broadus. The Court found that Broadus violated several provisions of the Rules of Professional Conduct, including those related to competence, diligence, communication, fees, and failure to cooperate with disciplinary authority. As a result, Broadus was suspended from the practice of law for a period of six months and was ordered to pay a fee of $1,000.00 and costs to the Clerk of the Court. The Court also ordered Broadus to comply with Rule 5.27, which requires notification of clients and counsel.

Following this event, on April 28, 2015, the Supreme Court of Missouri sustained Broadus’ petition for reinstatement after the said discipline and placed her on probation for three years. The terms of probation include providing proof of malpractice insurance to Shawn Boykin and the Chief Disciplinary Counsel. The court also ordered Broadus to pay costs.

In the latest development of the case, the Supreme Court of Missouri terminated the probation of attorney Broadus. The Chief Disciplinary Counsel responded to Broadus’ motion for an order of successful completion of probation, and the Court found that Broadus had met all requirements.
