On Monday, October 6, 2025, the Supreme Court of Tennessee dissolved the temporary suspension of attorney William Shea Forgety. The initial temporary suspension had been put in place on September 9, 2025, due to Mr. Forgety’s failure to respond to the Board of Professional Responsibility regarding a complaint of misconduct.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of William Shea Forgety,” with case no. M2025-01331-SC-BAR-BP.

Forgety subsequently filed a Petition for Dissolution on September 24, 2025, demonstrating that he had since responded to the disciplinary complaint and fulfilled all requirements outlined in the original suspension order.

The Board of Professional Responsibility acknowledged receiving Forgety’s response in an Answer to the petition, filed on October 2, 2025. Disciplinary Counsel deemed the response sufficient, and the Board stated that a hearing on the petition for dissolution was unnecessary given the circumstances.

The Supreme Court, after reviewing the facts and circumstances, determined that there was no reason to hold a hearing and that immediate dissolution of the temporary suspension was appropriate under Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 12.3(d). The court ordered that the temporary suspension imposed on September 9, 2025, be dissolved.

According to Avvo.com, Mr. Forgety is a criminal defense attorney in Nashville, Tennessee. He attended the Nashville School of Law. He acquired his law license in Tennessee in 2015.
