On Friday, January 30, 2026, the Tennessee Board of Professional Conduct announced the suspension of attorney Sheila L. Robinson-Beasley from practicing law for six years. The suspension, ordered by the Supreme Court of Tennessee, includes five years of active suspension, with the remaining year to be served on probation.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Sheila L. Robinson-Beasley.”
Robinson-Beasley’s probation is contingent upon her employing a practice monitor at her own expense for one year following her reinstatement. She must also comply with all terms and conditions of the Order of Enforcement, fulfill all Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements, and pay all registration fees and professional privilege taxes owed. Additionally, she is required to attend the Board of Professional Responsibility’s ethics workshop and cover all associated Board and court costs.
The disciplinary action stems from a complaint filed with the Board, alleging that Robinson-Beasley failed to adhere to proper protocol in the execution and use of a Durable Power of Attorney and Limited Power of Attorney. The complaint states that she prepared these documents on behalf of an ill family member and, after their death, converted assets belonging to the deceased’s estate. She also allegedly made false representations concerning the validity of the Power of Attorney to parties involved in the sale of the deceased’s residence and to the deceased’s bank.
Robinson-Beasley executed a Second Conditional Guilty Plea, acknowledging that her conduct violated Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct, specifically rules concerning competence, diligence, safekeeping property and funds, truthfulness in statements to others, and misconduct. She must also comply with Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Sections 28 and 30.4, which outline the obligations and responsibilities of suspended attorneys and the reinstatement procedure.
According to Avvo.com, Ms. Robinson-Beasley is an attorney in Memphis, Tennessee. She attended the University of Memphis – Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. She acquired her law license in Tennessee in 1989.
