On Thursday, August 4, 2022, the Disciplinary District V of the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee ruled on charges for attorney discipline against Nashville attorney Karl Emmanuel Pulley alleging misconduct.
The case, titled In Re: Karl Emmanuel Pulley, was brought by The Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee. Case #681315-5-ES.
The charges cited Pulley’s violations of Rules 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6 of the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct and Section 28 of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9.
According to the filing:
“On July 30, 2020, Mr. Pulley was hired to represent a client on criminal charges, and Mr. Pulley was paid $7,500. Mr. Pulley’s law license was suspended on June 8, 2021, and he had to withdraw from the representation. Mr. Pulley told the client he would resume the representation. Mr. Pulley’s fee was not fully earned during the representation.
By these act, Mr. Pulley is in violation of Rules of Professional Conduct 1.4 (communication), 1.5 (fees), 1.6 (termination of representation) and Section 28 of the Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9. “
The Disciplinary District V ruled for the public censure of Pulley. The decretal portion of its Order reads:
“Mr. Pulley is hereby Publicly Censured for this conduct with the condition that he make a partial refund to the client of $3,750 within 90 days.”
Correspondingly, on August 5, 2002, the Board of Professional Responsibility released the information of Pulley’s public censure.
According to The Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee, Mr. Pulley currently practices in Livingston, Tennessee. He attended the University of Tennessee College of Law. He has been licensed in Tennessee, license #012761.
