On Thursday, February 6, 2025, the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility announced that Attorney Frank L. Slaughter, Jr. has received a Public Censure from the Supreme Court of Tennessee. This decision follows the Court’s review of a prior ruling by the Sullivan County Chancery Court.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Frank L. Slaughter, Jr.”
The Supreme Court upheld the findings of a disciplinary Hearing Panel, which determined that Slaughter had improperly disclosed confidential information regarding a juvenile client. This action was deemed a violation of Tennessee Rule of Professional Conduct 1.6(a), as he shared the information without obtaining the informed consent of the client.
However, the Court did reverse a separate finding related to another rule concerning the rights of third parties, specifically Rule of Professional Conduct 4.4(a)(1).
The Public Censure serves as a formal reprimand for Slaughter’s conduct but does not impede his ability to practice law in Tennessee.
According to avvo.com, Mr. Slaughter Jr. is a criminal defense attorney in Bristol, Tennessee. He acquired his law license in Tennessee in 1997.
