On Thursday, February 9, 2023, the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board accepted the Consent to Revocation of the license of attorney Harry Tun after his disbarment in another State for repeated dishonesty.
The case is entitled “In the matter of Harry Tun” with case no 23-000-127881.
On December 22, 2022, it was stated that the District of Columbia Court of Appeals disbarred Washington attorney Harry Tun for repeated acts of dishonesty. Allegedly, while applying on his renewal application after earlier suspension, the respondent lied by stating that he didn’t have any pending disciplinary proceedings despite knowing otherwise.
The filing states:
“The respondent, Mr. Tun, concedes that he violated the said charges. Due to repeated acts of dishonesty, the Board concluded that the respondent should be disbarred. As to the present, Mr. Tun already received a total of five(5) informal admonitions from the Office of the Disciplinary Counsel and two(2) suspensions from the court. In a report and Recommendation of the Board of Professional Responsibility dated February 2, 2022, the present violation of Mr. Tun was explained. Allegedly, while requesting readmission after his suspension from the practice of law, the respondent gave false statements as answers for his renewal applications.”
The filing continues:
“Harry Tun is disbarred from the practice of law in the District of Columbia. For purposes of reinstatement, the effective date of his disbarment will not begin to run until he files an affidavit that complies with D.C. Bar Rule XI, $ 14(9).”
After the disbarment from the District of Columbia, the respondent presented to the Board in Virginia an Affidavit Declaring his consent to the revocation of his license to practice in Virginia. This is in connection with the investigation of his conduct. By declaring this Consent to revocation, the respondent acknowledges that the material facts contained in the pending complaint against him are true. The Board considered the Affidavit and decide to accept the Consent to Revocation.
The Disposition states:
“The Board has considered the Affidavit, and Bar Counsel having no objection, the Board accepts his Consent to Revocation. Upon consideration whereof, it is therefore ordered that Harry Tun’s license to practice law in the courts of this Commonwealth be and the same hereby is revoked and that the name of Harry Tun is stricken from the Roll of Attorneys of this Commonwealth.”
