On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, the U.S. Department of Justice Executive Office for Immigration Review Board of Immigration Appeals granted the Petition for Reinstatement of attorney Sharon A. Healey after being suspended indefinitely. The case is entitled “In the matter of Sharon A. Healey” with case no. D2022-0135.

On June 27, 2022, the State Bar Court of California Review Department indefinitely suspended the respondent from the practice of law in California, pending proof of passage of the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination. Consistent with the suspension from the State Bar of California, the Disciplinary Counsel for the Executive Office for Immigration Review and the Disciplinary Counsel for DHS jointly petitioned for the respondent’s immediate suspension from practice before the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Immigration Courts, and DHS, which the US Department of Justice granted as well.

The Court precluded the respondent from requesting a Hearing regarding the Joint Notice of Intent to Discipline for she failed to file a timely answer. The Joint Notice of Intent to Discipline proposes that the respondent be indefinitely suspended from practice before the Board of Immigration Appeals. the Immigration Courts, and DHS.

However, on September 26, 2022, while the said proceeding is pending, Healey filed a Motion for Reinstatement. She claimed that she already passed the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination and that she has been reinstated to practice in the state of California. With this fact, the Disciplinary Counsel didn’t oppose the respondent’s Motion for Reinstatement and requested that the court order the grant of the petition.

Thus, the court reinstates attorney Sharon Healey to practice before the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Immigration Courts, and DHS. It is further ordered that the reinstatement should be reflected in any public notices maintained and disseminated by the Executive Office for Immigration Review regarding attorney discipline.
