On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, the U.S. Department of Justice Executive Office for Immigration Review Board of Immigration Appeals suspended attorney Veronica Reyes after failing to file an answer to a Joint Notice of Intent to Discipline filed against her.

The case is entitled “In the matter of Veronica Reyes” with case no. D2022-0155.

On August 26, 2022, the Presiding Disciplinary Judge of the Supreme Court of Colorado issued an order approving the revised stipulation to discipline and suspending the respondent from the practice of law in Colorado for 1 year and 1 day.  Consistent with the said order, the Board of Immigration Appeals granted a petition for immediate suspension of the respondent to practice filed by the Disciplinary Counsel for the Executive Office for Immigration Review and the Disciplinary Counsel for the DHS.

Since the respondent failed to file an answer, the court stated that this directs them to adopt the proposed sanction contained in the Joint Notice of Intent to Discipline. Thus, they will honor the proposed discipline and orders that the respondent suspended from practice before the Board of Immigration Appeals, Immigration Courts, and DHS for 1 year and 1 day.

As of today, Ms. Reyes is listed on the website of the law firm Reyes Law Office as a practicing attorney. She attended Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology, graduating in 2009. Reyes practices and is licensed in Westminster, Colorado. Her info can be found on lawyer.com.
