On Thursday, October 12, 2023, Patrick Mattox Hyndman, a mobile attorney, was suspended from practicing law in Alabama for 91 days by the Disciplinary Board of the Alabama State Bar, with the suspension held in abeyance, and placed on probation for two years.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Patrick Mattox Hyndman,”

The charges cited Alabama Rules of Professional Conduct Rule 1.4, 8.4(c)(g), 1.3, 1.4, 1.5(b), 1.15, 5.1, 8.1(a)(b)(d)(g).

According to the filing, the Disciplinary Board found Hyndman guilty of violating the Alabama Rules of Professional Conduct. Hyndman undertook to represent a client on an estate matter in December 2020 but failed to file the petition to open the estate despite informing the client on multiple occasions that he would do so.

The Disciplinary Board’s decision was based on the factual allegations of the formal charges previously filed by the Bar, which Hyndman admitted to. The Board determined that Hyndman’s actions constituted misconduct and violated several rules of professional conduct, including communication, diligence, fees, safekeeping property, responsibilities of a partner or supervisory lawyer, bar admission and disciplinary matters, and misconduct.
