On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the Supreme Court of Tennessee at Nashville reinstated attorney Jason Russell Buckley’s law license in the state. Buckley had been suspended from practicing law in Tennessee for one year on August 8, 2024, as reciprocal discipline from an order by the Supreme Judicial Court of Maine. His suspension was retroactive to September 7, 2023.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Jason Russell Buckley,” with case no. M2024-00515-SC-BAR-BP.

The Chief Disciplinary Counsel notified the court that Buckley’s one-year suspension period has concluded and he had complied with all requirements in Tennessee Rule of Professional Conduct 9, Section 28. However, Buckley remained suspended from practicing law in both Maine, where the original discipline order came from, and in Connecticut where he also faced reciprocal discipline.

The Board of Professional Responsibility nevertheless submitted Buckley’s petition for reinstatement since there was no policy requiring attorneys to be reinstated in the original jurisdiction first.

Upon review of Buckley’s petition and the Board’s response, the Supreme Court of Tennessee granted the request and issued an order reinstating his law license to practice in the state. Buckley will have to pay all court costs associated with the proceeding within 90 days.

According to martindale.com, Mr. Buckley attended the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, graduating in 2002. He acquired his law license in Tennessee in 2008.
