On Thursday, May 29, 2025, the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board issued a notice announcing a reprimand for attorney Jerry R. Hamling, effective October 17, 2024. The disciplinary action stems from a guilty plea Hamling entered in a New York court for falsifying business records, classified as a misdemeanor under New York Penal Law 175.05.00.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Jerry R. Hamling,” with case no. 24-32-JC.

The Grievance Administrator initiated the process by filing a Notice of Filing of Judgment of Conviction, as required by Michigan Court Rule 9.120(B)(3). Following proceedings conducted under Michigan Court Rule 9.120, Tri-County Hearing Panel #54 determined that Hamling’s actions constituted professional misconduct. The panel found that he violated a criminal law, contravening Michigan Court Rule 9.104(5). As a result, the panel ordered a reprimand.

The Grievance Administrator sought a review of the decision, and on April 21, 2025, the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board upheld the hearing panel’s ruling, confirming the reprimand. Additionally, Hamling was ordered to pay costs totaling $2,333.05.
