On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, the Supreme Court of Louisiana revoked the probation of attorney Chester J. Rothkamm, Jr., leading to the immediate enforcement of a previously deferred suspension from practicing law. The suspension, originally issued on May 23, 2023, was for a period of one year and one day.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Chester J. Rothkamm, Jr.,” with case no. 2025-B-01029.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) had filed a motion to revoke Rothkamm’s probation due to his failure to meet the stipulated conditions of his probation. Rothkamm stipulated to the violations outlined by the ODC and consented to the revocation. Following this, the hearing committee supported the ODC’s motion, finding that Rothkamm had not complied with the requirements of his probation plan and recommended that the deferred suspension be executed.

The Supreme Court agreed with the hearing committee’s recommendation, thereby revoking Rothkamm’s probation and making the suspension immediately effective.. The court specified that this ruling does not prevent the ODC from filing new charges related to potential instances of misconduct uncovered during the investigation.

The Disposition states:

“For the reasons assigned, respondent’s probation is revoked and the deferred suspension of one year and one day imposed in In re: Rothkamm, 23-0513 (La. 5/23/23), 360 So. 3d 834, is hereby made immediately executory.”
