The Illinois Supreme Court issued an order on January 17, 2024, suspending attorney Peter George Limperis of Burbank from practicing law for two years.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Peter George Limperis,” with case no. 2022PR00003.

In its report, the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (IARDC) alleged that Limperis engaged in misconduct related to a client matter dating back to 2012. Limperis represented a client, Marta Glod, in a foreclosure case but failed to document the terms of their agreement in writing. In 2015, Limperis and Glod had agreed that Limperis would purchase Glod’s home that was in foreclosure to allow her to remain living there. However, Limperis did not prepare any written agreement.

The IARDC further alleged that Limperis submitted real estate contracts to the bank to purchase Glod’s home at a discounted price without her knowledge. In one instance, Limperis falsely represented that another attorney was the purchaser by signing their name to the contract. The bank ultimately rejected the contracts due to the low offer amounts. Limperis also filed an attorney’s lien on Glod’s home claiming unpaid fees, though he did not intend to collect fees from her.

Based on these actions, the IARDC charged Limperis with improperly entering into a business transaction with a client, making false statements, and engaging in dishonest conduct. In September 2023, the IARDC recommended a two-year suspension. Limperis sought a lesser one-year suspension, but the Illinois Supreme Court approved the original two-year suspension.

The Disposition states:

“Petition by the Administrator of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission for leave to file exceptions to the report and recommendation of the Review Board. Allowed. Respondent Peter George Limperis is suspended from the practice of law for two (2) years and until further order of the Court.”

According to avvo.com, Mr. Limperis is a family attorney in Burbank, Illinois. He acquired his law license in Illinois in 1990.
