On Thursday, August 15, 2024, the Supreme Court of Washington issued an order disbarring attorney Samantha Marie Benton from practicing law in the state.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Samantha Marie Benton,” with case no. 202199-9.
According to the order, Benton had resigned from practicing law in Oregon in January 2024 in lieu of discipline and the Oregon Supreme Court had accepted her resignation the following month.
As a result, the Washington Supreme Court conducted a review and issued an identical discipline of disbarment since Benton did not provide any reason why the same penalty should not apply in Washington. She will no longer be allowed to practice law and the disbarment went into effect one week after the August 15, 2024 order date.
According to avvo.com, Ms. Benton was a family attorney in Hood River, Oregon. She acquired her law license in Washington in 2020.
