On Thursday, August 10, 2023, the Supreme Court of Florida issued a decision regarding Attorney Kaysia Monica Earley. The decision approved a stipulation as to probable cause, conditional guilty plea, and consent judgment for discipline, and reprimanded Attorney Earley for soliciting donations, misleading titles, inaccurate campaign reports, and making misrepresentations during her 2022 County Court Judicial run.
The case is entitled “The Florida Bar v. Kaysia Monica Earley,” case no. SC2023-1070.
Earley has been accused of violating the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar. The allegations stemmed from her 2022 campaign for a seat in Broward County Court. The Florida Bar received complaints regarding her campaign activities, which led to an investigation and the subsequent filing of a formal complaint accusing Earley of engaging in misconduct.
The complaint accused Earley of soliciting donations through postcards and social media, misrepresenting herself as a judge, posting an unauthorized endorsement, and filing inaccurate campaign reports. Additionally, Earley claimed to be the most experienced attorney in Broward County.
In response to the allegations, Earley stipulated to a finding of probable cause and entered a conditional guilty plea, whereby Earley admitted her misconduct, and expressed remorse for her mistakes. She also agreed to an imposition of public reprimand to be administered by publication, payment of disciplinary costs, as well as Ethics School attendance.
Accordingly, the Supreme Court of Florida approved the conditional guilty plea and consent judgment for discipline and reprimanded Earley.
Earley was directed to attend The Florida Bar’s Ethics School under the terms and conditions set forth in the consent judgment. Costs amounting to $1,840.62 were assessed against Earley.
