On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, the Supreme Court of Tennessee transferred Gainesville attorney Hannah Andrea Gribble to disability inactive status.

The case, titled ‘In Re: Hannah Andrea Gribble,’ was brought by the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee. Case #M2023-00708-SC-BAR-BP.

According to the filing:

“By Order of the Tennessee Supreme Court entered May 17, 2023, the law license of Hannah Andrea Gribble was transferred to disability inactive status pursuant to Section 27.3 of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9.”

The Court, based upon due consideration of the documentation provided by Gribble’s medical provider and the record as a whole, deemed that Gribble is currently incapacitated from continuing the practice of law, thereby entering an Order granting the petition and transferring Gribble’s law license to disability inactive status.

The Order Transferring Attorney to Disability Inactive Status reads:

“1. The law license of Hannah Andrea Gribble shall be transferred to liability inactive status for an indefinite period of time and until further order of the Supreme Court.

2. Ms. Gribble shall comply with Tenn. Sup Ct. R. 9 in all respects and particularly as provided in Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9 § 28, regarding the responsibilities of attorneys transferred to disability inactive status.

3. Ms. Gribble shall be allowed to petition for reinstatement to active status pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9 § 27.7.

4. The Board shall publish notice of this transfer pursuant to Sup. Ct. R. 9, §§ 27.5 and 28.11.

5. Pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9 § 32.4, documents other than this Order relating to Ms. Gribble’s disability proceeding shall not be public records and shall be kept confidential.”

Accordingly, in compliance with the Court’s Order, the Board of Professional Responsibility published the information of Gribble’s transfer to disability inactive status on the same day, May 17, 2023.

Ms. Gribble is not allowed to practice law while on disability inactive status. She may return to the practice of law upon proof that her disability has been removed in accordance with Supreme Court Rule 9, Section 27.7.
