On Thursday, February 2, 2023, attorney James Andrew George’s resignation was accepted by the State of New York, Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department. The case is entitled “In the Matter of James Andrew George” with case no. PM-19-23.
The petitioner requested to resign from the New York Bar for non-disciplinary reasons. In response, the Attorney Grievance Commission (ACG) for the third judicial department stated that it didn’t oppose the respondent’s request.
In consideration of the respondent’s sworn affidavit filed on December 14, 2022, and the response submitted by ACG, the court granted the application and accepted Mr. George’s resignation.

He is forbidden to appear as an attorney or counselor at law before any judge, court, justice, board, commission, or public authority. The petitioner must also refrain from giving his opinion on the law and application, or any advice in relation.
The respondent is ordered, within 30 days, to surrender any attorney secure pass that has been issued to him by the Office of Court Administration.
The Disposition states:
“ORDERED that James Andrew Georges’ application for permission to resign is granted and his nondisciplinary resignation is accepted.”
