On Friday, December 13, 2024, the Supreme Court of Indiana issued an order suspending attorney Dean E. McConnell from practicing law in the state due to his failure to cooperate with a disciplinary investigation.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Dean E. McConnell,” with case no. 24S-DI-328.
The court had previously directed McConnell to demonstrate why he should not face immediate suspension after a grievance was filed against him. Despite subsequent filings from both parties, the court noted that McConnell did not respond to a request from the Disciplinary Commission asserting his continued noncooperation.
The suspension takes effect immediately and will remain in place until the Executive Director of the Disciplinary Commission certifies that McConnell has fully cooperated with the investigation or until further court orders are issued.
In addition to the suspension, McConnell is required to reimburse the Disciplinary Commission $518.85 for costs incurred during the proceedings. The order underscores the court’s commitment to upholding standards of professional conduct within the legal community.
The Disposition states:
“Being duly advised, the Court ORDERS that Respondent be suspended from the practice of law for noncooperation with the Commission, effective immediately.”
