On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, the Supreme Court of Louisiana suspended Attorney Timothy Mathison from practicing law for ninety days. The suspension will be deferred, contingent upon Mathison successfully completing the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Ethics School.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Timothy Mathison,” with case no. 2025-B-0227.
The disciplinary action arose from an investigation by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, which found that Mathison failed to properly witness the signing of a notarized document that contained a forged signature. This document was subsequently filed in the public record. Mathison admitted that his actions violated professional conduct rules.
The court’s decision included a stipulation that if Mathison does not meet the conditions of his deferral or engages in further misconduct during this period, the suspension could be enacted or additional penalties could be imposed. Furthermore, all costs associated with the proceedings will be charged to Mathison, accruing legal interest thirty days after the final judgment is issued.
According to Martindale.com, Mr. Mathison attended the Tulane University of Louisiana, graduating in 1985. He acquired his law license in Louisiana in the same year.
