On Monday, September 23, 2024, the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board reinstated attorney Nejla K. Lane to practice law in the state. Lane had been suspended on March 16th for 60 days due to an order by the Board increasing her discipline from a reprimand.

The case is entitled “Grievance Administrator v. Nejla K. Lane”. with case number 23-38-RD.

The order details that on September 13th, the Attorney Discipline Board had suspended Lane from practicing law for two months for an undisclosed violation. A week later on September 17th, Lane filed affidavits demonstrating she had complied with all requirements from the Board’s order during her suspension. Lane also assured in her affidavit that she would continue to abide by the order’s terms until and unless reinstated.

The Grievance Administrator, which represents the Attorney Grievance Commission, did not object to Lane’s affidavits showing her suspension period was served accordingly. Given Lane fulfilled the obligations and the Administrator had no issues, the Attorney Discipline Board ruled she could resume legal practice in Michigan.

According to avvo.com, Ms. Lane is a criminal defense attorney in Chicago, Illinois. She is the founder of Lane Keyfli Law International. She acquired her law license in Michigan in 2005.
