On Monday, June 16, 2025, the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board issued a notice announcing the reprimand of Attorney Jonathan D. Abrahams. The action stems from a stipulation for a consent order of discipline filed by Abrahams and the Grievance Administrator, approved by the Attorney Grievance Commission, and accepted by Tri-County Hearing Panel #104. Abrahams entered a no-contest plea to allegations of professional misconduct related to his representation of a family involved in a Florida automobile accident.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Jonathan D. Abrahams,” with case no. 24-74-GA.
The charges cited Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.3, 1.4(a), 1.4(b), 3.2, and Michigan Court Rules 9.104(2).
The allegations state that Abrahams did not disclose he was unlicensed to practice law in Florida, failed to communicate adequately with the clients or their insurance company, failed to inform them of case developments or settlement offers, and missed critical correspondence and requests for independent medical examinations. These oversights led the insurance company to close the clients’ personal injury protection claims and reduce the value of their third-party claims.
The hearing panel determined that Abrahams violated several Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct, including failing to act with diligence and promptness, not keeping clients informed, neglecting to explain matters sufficiently for informed decision-making, and not expediting litigation in the clients’ interests. Additionally, his conduct was found to harm the reputation of the legal profession.
The panel ordered a reprimand and imposed a condition relevant to the misconduct. Abrahams was also assessed costs of $1,235.76.
According to Avvo.com, Mr. Abrahams is a car accident attorney in Farmington Hills, Michigan. He acquired his law license in Michigan in 1992.
