On Friday, June 13, 2025, the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board issued a notice announcing the reprimand of Attorney Jonathan D. Abrahams. The decision followed a stipulation for a consent order of discipline filed by Abrahams and the Grievance Administrator, approved by the Attorney Grievance Commission, and accepted by Tri-County Hearing Panel #104.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Jonathan D. Abrahams,” with case no. 24-74-GA.

The case stemmed from Abrahams’ representation of a family involved in a Florida automobile accident. According to the formal complaint, Abrahams misrepresented his licensure status regarding his ability to practice law in Florida. He also failed to adequately communicate with the family’s automobile insurance company and his clients, neglected to inform the clients about case developments or settlement offers, and missed critical correspondence and requests for independent medical examinations. These oversights led the insurance company to close the clients’ PIP claims and later reduce the value of their third-party claims.

Abrahams admitted to the factual allegations and professional misconduct outlined in the complaint.

The hearing panel determined that he violated several Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct (MRPC), including Rule 1.3 for failing to act with reasonable diligence and promptness, Rule 1.4(a) for not keeping clients reasonably informed or responding promptly to their requests, Rule 1.4(b) for failing to explain matters sufficiently for clients to make informed decisions, and Rule 3.2 for not making reasonable efforts to expedite litigation in the clients’ interests. Additionally, the panel found that Abrahams’s conduct violated Michigan Court Rule 9.104(2) by bringing disrepute to the legal profession.

As part of the consent order, the panel imposed a reprimand and mandated compliance with a condition addressing the misconduct. Abrahams was also ordered to pay costs totaling $1,235.76.

According to Avvo.com, Mr. Abrahams is a car accident attorney in Farmington Hills, Michigan. He attended the University of Detroit, graduating in 1992. He acquired his law license in Michigan the same year.
