On Thursday, February 8, 2024, the Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department of the Supreme Court of New York granted a motion to reinstate attorney Grace Marie Walsh Gallagher to the practice of law.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Grace Marie Walsh Gallagher,” with case no. PM-18-24.

According to the court order, Gallagher had previously been suspended in a September 2022 ruling that involved multiple attorneys failing to comply with attorney registration requirements.

Gallagher filed a motion on December 18, 2023, providing documents to show she had resolved her registration issues behind her suspension. The Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department, which oversees attorney conduct in the region, subsequently issued a letter confirming Gallagher was now in compliance with all requirements.

In its February decision, the Appellate Court analyzed Gallagher’s application and concurred she had fulfilled her one-year suspension under clear and convincing evidence. The court especially noted Gallagher’s evidence of obeying their order and rules governing her suspension. It further found she presently possessed good character and fitness for legal work, and reinstating her license would serve the public interest.

As a result, the Appellate Court immediately granted Gallagher’s request and officially reinstated her eligibility to practice law moving forward.

According to avvo.com, Ms. Grace Marie Walsh Gallagher attended DePaul University. She acquired her law license in New York in 1997.
