On Thursday, November 6, 2025, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department granted Attorney Arun Kumar Birla’s application to resign from the New York bar. The resignation was accepted for nondisciplinary reasons, according to the Rules for Attorney Disciplinary Matters.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Arun Kumar Birlam,” with case no. PM-248-25.

Birla submitted an affidavit sworn to on October 21, 2025, requesting permission to resign. The Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department (AGC) confirmed they did not oppose Birla’s application in an October 28, 2025, correspondence. The Deputy Chief Attorney for the AGC confirmed Birla’s eligibility to resign for nondisciplinary reasons.

As a result of the court’s order, Arun Kumar Birla’s name has been removed from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law in the State of New York, effective immediately. This status will remain until further order of the court.

The court has further ordered that Birla cease practicing law in any form within the State of New York, whether as a principal, agent, clerk, or employee. He is prohibited from appearing as an attorney or counselor-at-law before any court, judge, justice, board, commission, or other public authority. Additionally, he cannot provide legal opinions or advice, or present himself as an attorney and counselor-at-law in New York.

Finally, Arun Kumar Birla is required to surrender any Attorney Secure Pass issued to him to the Office of Court Administration within 30 days of the court’s decision.

The Disposition states:

“It is ORDERED that Arun Kumar Birla’s application for permission to resign is granted and his nondisciplinary resignation is accepted; and it is further ORDERED that Arun Kumar Birla’s name is hereby stricken from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law of the State of New York, effective immediately, and until further order of this Court.”

According to the filing, Mr. Birla acquired his law license in New York in 2001.
