On Thursday, March 21, 2024, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of New York, Third Department reinstated attorney Tsipora Bengi to the practice of law in the state.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Tsipora Bengi,” with case no. PM-45-24.
Bengi had been suspended from practicing law by court order in May 2019. In her motion for reinstatement, Bengi provided an affidavit dated December 4, 2023, showing she had now satisfied the requirements after being suspended for over four years. The Attorney Grievance Committee, responsible for attorney discipline, did not oppose her reinstatement after reviewing her materials.
In a written ruling, the panel said the court determined Bengi had met the standard for reinstatement through clear and convincing evidence. The judges found she complied with the suspension order and court rules. They also decided she now has the proper character and fitness to practice law again and that reinstating her license would be in the public’s interest.
As a result, the Appellate Court reinstated Bengi, restoring her license to practice law in the state effective immediately.
