On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Judicial Department granted attorney Marina Da Silva Prado’s motion for reinstatement to practice law in the state. Prado had been suspended from practicing law since November 17, 2022, due to noncompliance with Judiciary Law Section 468-a, which mandates certain registration requirements for attorneys.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Marina Da Silva Prado,” with case no. 2025-01576
The court’s decision followed Prado’s motion to be reinstated as an attorney. According to the filing, Prado resolved the issue by complying with Judiciary Law Section 468-a on or about September 27, 2024. The Court, presided over by Justice Peter H. Moulton and joined by Justices Barbara R. Kapnick, Saliann Scarpulla, Julio Rodriguez III, and Llinét M. Rosado, reviewed the motion and determined that Prado met the necessary conditions for reinstatement.
The order officially restored Prado’s status as a practicing attorney in New York, effective immediately upon the court’s ruling on May 13, 2025. The reinstatement allows Prado to resume her legal practice in the state.
The Disposition states:
“It is ordered that the motion is granted, and petitioner is reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law in the State of New York, effective the date hereof.”
According to the filing, Ms. Prado acquired her law license in New York in 2012.
