On Thursday, September 8, 2022, the State of New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division Third Judicial Department ruled on Washington attorney Jennifer Anne Fischer seeking for leave to resign .

The case, titled In the Matter of Jennifer Anne Fischer, was brought by Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department (AGC). Case #PM-157-22.

Jennifer Anne Fischer was admitted to practice in the state bar of New York in 2006 with a business address in Washington, DC with the Office of Court Administration. Fischer filed a motion for leave to resign from the New York Bar for non-disciplinary reasons. The AGC opposes the application on July 20, 2022.

Accordingly, the Court denied Fischer’s application for permission to resign, stating among others:

“Fischer is presently delinquent in her New York attorney registration requirements, having failed to timely register for the 2022-2023 biennial period. . . Inasmuch as Fischer is therefore subject to potential disciplinary action, she is ineligible for non-disciplinary resignation and her application must be denied. . . Further, any future application by Fischer must be supported by proof of her full satisfaction of the requirements of Judiciary Law § 468-a and Rules of the Chief Administrator of the Courts.”

The dispositive portion of the Memorandum and Order on Motion reads:

“ORDERED that Jennifer Anne Fischer’s application for permission to resign is denied.”

Ms. Fischer completed her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, graduating magna cum laude in 2005. She practices in Washington, DC. She has been licensed in New York, Minnesota, District of Columbia. Her info can be found online on this link.
