On Monday, December 22, 2025, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals suspended Matthew Adam Baum, Bar No. 974908, from practicing law in the District of Columbia. The suspension is on an interim basis and stems from a reciprocal disciplinary action following Baum’s suspension in Maryland.

On Friday, February 21, 2025, the Supreme Court of Maryland issued an order suspending Baum from practicing law within the state. The Maryland case, entitled “Attorney Grievance Commission v. Matthew Adam Baum,” case no. 28, was initiated by a petition for disciplinary action submitted by the Attorney Grievance Commission. The Maryland Court’s decision resulted in an immediate suspension, pending further orders from the court, in accordance with Rule 19-738(e).

The disciplinary action in D.C. is a consequence of the Maryland suspension, indicating that the D.C. Bar reciprocates disciplinary measures taken by other jurisdictions.

According to Avvo, Mr. Baum was admitted to the District of Columbia in 2007.
