On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Judicial Department disbarred attorney Nicholas Patouris, effectively immediately, and ordered his name stricken from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law in the State of New York. The disbarment follows a motion by the Attorney Grievance Committee (AGC) for the First Judicial Department, pursuant to 22 NYCRR 1240.9(b).

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Nicholas Patouris,” with case number 2024-02371.

Patouris had been previously suspended from practicing law on April 1, 2025, by court order, due to his failure to comply with the AGC’s lawful investigative demands. These demands included repeatedly failing to submit answers to two disciplinary complaints as directed by the AGC. The AGC served Patouris with notice of entry and a copy of the suspension order via email on April 3, 2025, but he did not respond.

The court found that Patouris had neither responded to nor appeared for further investigatory or disciplinary proceedings within six months of the April 1, 2025 suspension order. As a result, the court granted the AGC’s motion to disbar Patouris.

The court also ordered that Patouris must cease practicing law in any form, refrain from appearing as an attorney or counselor-at-law before any court or public authority, and abstain from giving legal opinions or advice. Furthermore, he is prohibited from presenting himself as an attorney and counselor-at-law. Patouris is also required to comply with the rules governing the conduct of disbarred or suspended attorneys, as outlined in 22 NYCRR 1240.15.

Patouris was initially admitted to the Bar of the State of New York on September 24, 1986, within the Second Judicial Department.
