On Thursday, October 9, 2025, The Florida Bar filed a petition for contempt and order to show cause with the Supreme Court of Florida against attorney Tamika L. Jones, citing her failure to respond to an official bar inquiry.
The petition, stemming from Florida Bar File No. 2026-50,275(17D)OSC, requests the court to suspend Jones until she provides a written response to the inquiry outlined in “The Florida Bar’s Exhibit 1” and until further order of the court. The Florida Bar also seeks administrative costs of $1,250.00 from Jones, arguing that the other members of The Florida Bar should not bear the financial burden of her non-compliance.
The petition follows a Grievance Committee Finding of Non-Compliance and Failure to Respond to Official Bar Inquiry and Contempt, which was considered on September 29, 2025, pursuant to Rule 3-7.11(f), Rules Regulating The Florida Bar. The Grievance Committee 17D found that Jones failed to respond to multiple letters from The Florida Bar regarding a complaint filed against her.
According to the Grievance Committee’s findings, the initial letter was sent to Jones on February 19, 2025, via regular U.S. Mail, advising her of the complaint and requesting a written response by March 6, 2025. When no response was received, a second letter was sent on or about March 18, 2025, via both regular U.S. Mail and email, with a new deadline of March 28, 2025. This letter also went unanswered. The February 19 letter was eventually returned as undeliverable on April 21, 2025.
Subsequently, on May 12, 2025, a bar staff investigator hand-delivered the underlying complaint and the previous letters to Jones. Despite this, Jones still did not respond. Further, on September 17, 2025, Jones was notified via email about a Grievance Committee 17D hearing scheduled for September 29, 2025, regarding the Request for Issuance of Notice of Non-Compliance and Finding of Contempt. She failed to respond to this notice as well.
The Grievance Committee concluded that Jones failed to demonstrate good cause for her lack of response and deemed her non-compliance willful. As a result, the committee found Jones in contempt and requested The Florida Bar to file a Petition for Contempt and Order to Show Cause with the Supreme Court.
According to Avvo, Ms. Jones is an employment and labor lawyer in Tamarac, FL. She acquired her law license in Florida in 2006.
